It has been a long overdue update and I'm terribly sorry for that. I hope even with my absent you still enjoy developing with Orchestra Platform as much as I did. Today I would like to share some update regarding Orchestra Platform mostly regarding the soon to be release 2.1 and some of the community project that I would like to start exploring.
This official website has been moved from Jekyll to use Orchestra Platform (with Story CMS), this would allow us to create additional section including:
- Website/application built with Orchestra Platform showcase.
- A aggregator of extension built for Orchestra Platform.
- Feel free to suggest what you'll like to see.
I would also like to mention that the website is hosted with DigitalOcean.
I would like to invite anyone using Orchestra Platform to follow us on Twitter and Orchestra Platform User Group @ Facebook which I frequently update on latest news, bug reports and updates related to Orchestra Platform.
2.0 End Of Life
Before we go into 2.1 release, I would like to inform everyone that 2.0 lifecycle will end 6 months from now. During this period we will still maintain to code base and release bugfix until July 15th, 2014. We would encourage everyone to migrate to 2.1 as soon as possible which offer better stability and overall improvement.
2.1 LTS Release
This upcoming 2.1 release due January 15th, 2014. will be our first official Long Term Support (LTS) release. It primarily due to the fact that we'll drop support for PHP 5.3 in the next upcoming 2.2 release (which is in-line with Laravel 4.2 requirement). The lifecycle for a LTS release is increased from 6 months to 2 years, this mean 2.1 End of Life (EOL) is due on January 15th, 2016.
Thank you again for choosing Orchestra Platform and I do hope to hear more feedback from everyone.
